What started as a mom’s solution, slowly grew into the beginnings of Prairie Roots Botanical.

The Heart of

Prairie Roots Botanical

Motherhood pulled me deeper into herbalism - into studying the plants, their stories, their traditions, and the quiet ways they’ve supported families for generations. What began as simple curiousity grew into a deep study of the medicinal plants around me, especially the ones rooted in prairie soil. I spent years reading, learning, experimenting, and forming a relationship with these plants.

And truthfully, this path didn’t begin in adulthood at all. I was the little girl who spent her childhood stirring together “potions” made from leaves, flower petals, mud, and whatever I could gather from the backyard. I didn’t know it then, but the seeds of this work were already planted. Prairie Roots Botanical is in many ways, the grown-up version of the magic I felt in those early moments - hands in the dirt, surrounded by what the earth has to offer.

As the years passed, those small bottles, and batches in my kitchen grew into a deeper practice of crafting herbal goods for real, everyday life. I make everything by hand - tallow balms, herbal oils, tinctures, teas, and the botanical helpers that weave themselves into family rhythms. Each batch is slow-made in small quantities, using whole plants, prairie-grown ingredients, and the old methods that honour the land we come from.

This apothecary is built on the belief that there is magic in the ordinary.

In the bedtime routines, the scraped knees, the winter hands, the moments that ask for gentleness. In the quiet good-morning kisses and the long days of motherhood. In the small rituals that make life feel steadier. My work is simply to support those moments - to bottle a little of the prairie’s calm, warmth, and resilience.

I create for families like mine. For mothers navigating messy, beautiful days. For people who want herbal goods without the overwhelm. For those who find comfort in the handmade, the simple, the real.

Prairie Roots Botanical is more than an apothecary. It is a continuation of the land that raised me, the community that surrounds me, and the hands-on traditions passed through generations. Every product begins with a plant and ends with two hands shaping it into something useful, comforting, and true.

Thank you for being here - for supporting handmade work, for choosing small-batch herbal goods, and for letting a little prairie magic into your everyday.
